Curatorial RemarksThe Scribner's inventory card notes that this oil on canvas was painted in black and white (card number 01770, Scribner Archive, Brandywine River Museum library). It was the last of the three pictures Wyeth did for this story, about mid-June, 1904 (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, "A whole week has passed...," dated in another hand June 19, 1904, Wyeth Family Archives).
