Curatorial RemarksThis work is clearly related in subject and date to NCW 1331; the more detailed composition and finer brushwork suggest later. Andrew Wyeth, who also painted in the same location, remembers that this structure was on "the road leading to the Andress House--go beyond, a springhouse on the right of the road, a barn on the left. Peter Hurd used it--took naps in it" (AW, Dec. 1997, catalogue raisonne project files).
