Curatorial RemarksThe printer's marks on the reverse of this canvas make it clear that NCW 1838 is underneath the present image, an illustration that appeared on page 19 for the September 1925 issue of McCall's serialization of Howard Bell Wright's "A Son of His Father."
The identification of this painting with number 53 in West Chester, PA, 1938(2) is based only on the flowers depicted.
