Curatorial RemarksThis picture was probably painted as two separate images, much like the layout of the double page spread in McCall's. In order to present the painting to Halwert Sorenson, the artist adhered both paintings to a single hardboard support and added a 3 1/2 inch strip in the middle to visually join the two pictures.
Sorensen is mentioned as an employee of Beck's in The American Printer, vol. 70, no. 2 (Jan. 1920), p. 46 and American Stationer and Office Outfitter, vol. LXXXIV, no. 53 (July 5, 1919), p. 2
