Curatorial RemarksThe print shown hanging on the wall behind the foursome is recognizable as "Saul and the Witch of Endor," a print that hung in the anteroom in the artist's studio (Brandywine River Museum, NCWS.95.2290); the footed glass compote is similar to a pair owned by Carolyn Wyeth (Brandywine River Museum, NCWS.95.5237.1 and .2). The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.103) of the composition drawing that was used in the transfer of the design from paper to panel.
