Curatorial RemarksThe following editorial comment accompanied the reproduction of this painting on the cover of Popular Magazine, November 15, 1909:
" It goes without saying that you noticed the cover of the present number, as it lay on the news stand before you bought it. We don't think that you could help noticing it. The painting itself is something to make one stop and stare in admiration, and the reproduction on the cover is about the best that can be made. Wyeth, one of the foremost of American painters of outdoors, painted the picture. We think we can say without vanity that it is probably the most artistic and striking cover on the news stands at present."
