Curatorial RemarksThis painting is probably an unidentified illustration, perhaps associated with NCW 922 in which a similar figure appears. The 1957 Knoedler's catalogue lists the painting as a Winchester Rifle advertisement, however research at the Cody Firearms Museum found no evidence of a link with the company (Winchester advertisement project, Herbert Houze and Jennifer Houze, Cody Firearms Museum, 1996-1997).
