Curatorial RemarksThe Scribner's record for this drawing notes it was done in "crayon"--perhaps a type of lithographic crayon that was part of the printing process. The price of the drawing is listed at $75, however, there is no indication whether that is the price Scribner's paid Wyeth or the price for which Scribner's hoped to sell the drawing. The drawing is the only illustration for the article.
While the title and date of the drawing provides a clue to the subject of the drawing, viewers at the time of publication immediately would have recognized the Blue Star service banner hanging above the front door. Each star indicates a family member serving in one of the Armed Forces.
