Curatorial RemarksThe dating of this work is based on Wyeth's remark "Have done considerable landscape work this winter and have advanced (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, March 13, 1912, Wyeth Family Archives). Those paintings that have been positively identified as being shown in Philadelphia in 1912 have numbers on the stretchers that differ by one or two from the numbers on the checklist.
The village of Chadds Ford is seen from a site along Creek Road, looking south past the John Chad house and the barn below it. The barn no longer stands.
