Curatorial RemarksAccording to the artist's income tax notes for 1939, he received $1,000. for the four paintings that illustrate Ramona. NCW 1438 is a composition drawing in charcoal for this image. See NCWS.95.73, a group of illustrations torn from an unidentified book. These illustrations are photographs taken at Camulos, reputed home of Ramona.
