Curatorial RemarksBoth the title and exhibition record for this painting are derived from the notations on the stretchers. The Wyeth Family Archives includes a photograph of this painting and NCW 68 on an easel filed between letters dated Aug. 15 and Aug. 23, 1909. There is no indication in the letters, however, that the photo was enclosed in either of them. Joseph Hawley Chapin was the art editor at Scribner's until his death in 1939.
