Curatorial RemarksThis is a composition drawing for the endpaper illustration for The Yearling (NCW 499). Clearly Wyeth increased the width of the work by adding a piece in the middle of the design, which would have fallen at the binding. The BRM holds a lantern slide (NCW.95.1825.440) of the drawing which the artist used in the transfer of the design from paper to panel.
