Curatorial RemarksThe title of this painting comes from an inventory card written by Carolyn Wyeth (Carolyn Wyeth inventory, Brandywine River Museum library). According to Jane Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth identified the Kuerner farm in the left background and dated the painting to 1916 (Jane Wyeth to Christine B. Podmaniczky, June 13, 2001, Brandywine River Museum curatorial files). The work is dated here in relation to other pieces done during the winter of 1911 / 1912, when Wyeth was particularly active in landscape painting (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, March 13. 1912, Wyeth Family Archives).
