Curatorial RemarksThis painting is dated by its similarities with NCW 301, a Popular Magazine cover dated 1909, although no magazine reproduction has been located. The prominence of the guns suggests that the image could also have been painted as an advertisement for a firearms or ammunitions manufacturer.
