Curatorial RemarksAmong the papers found in the artist's studio was a Collier's label marked "The Son of Hagar" that must have been adhered to the reverse of one of the three illustrations for this story. (Brandywine River Museum, Wyeth archives). The canvas was reused in 1916 for a study for Newborn Calf (see NCW 28).
