Curatorial RemarksWhile the signature and the date are probably not in the artist's hand, the date no doubt reflects the recollection of the sitter. The N. C. Wyeth family was living in Needham during the winters of 1921-22 and 1922-23, so the setting is most likely Massachusetts.
