Curatorial RemarksIn a letter Wyeth wrote from Canon Gallegos, NM, "I have had very little time to sketch although I have made 8 or 10 Indian heads in pencil and a couple in color" (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth and Andrew Newell Wyeth, November 3, 1904, Wyeth Family Archives). The Andrew and Betsy Wyeth collection includes two pencil drawings of heads in profile (NCW 58 and NCW 1228) that relate to this image.
