Curatorial RemarksCropping of the image as reproduced on the magazine cover removed a portion of Wyeth's signature in the lower right, so "PAINTED BY / N.C. WYETH" was added in another hand at the lower left of the painting. This signature was subsequently removed and only a faint trace of it remains.
The painting is identified as being in the Philadelphia, PA 1912(1) exhibition by the article "Wyeth Feature of Sketch Club Show," The (Philadelphia) Inquirer, Nov. 5, 1912, where it is pictured in black and white.
