Curatorial RemarksAccording to the text, the figures are August Lindbergh, his wife Louise Carline Lindbergh, and their son Charles August (who would grow up to be the father of the aviator). The Wyeth Family Archives include photographs of Lindbergh family members that the artist used as references (all prints dated April 21, 1931).
Eva Lindbergh Christie, half-sister of Col. Charles Augustus Lindbergh, accepted the painting in lieu of payment for her cooperation with the authors of the McCall's article. On page two of the magazine is a short biographical paragraph about N. C. Wyeth.
