Curatorial RemarksA letter from the artist (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, dated in another hand Feb. 12, 1915, but correct by context, Wyeth Family Archives) and Scribner's archival material (Brandywine River Museum library) confirm that this painting (and the other two for the story) were completed by Feb. 1915. No reason for the unusually long pre-publication delay is known. Peter Logan Bockius was Carolyn Bockius Wyeth's brother.
