Curatorial RemarksThis is the view on Murphy Road, looking southwest toward the foot of the Wyeth drive. The N. C. Wyeth property stretches up the hill on the left. According to Andrew Wyeth, the house pictured was built by Horace Kipe in the early to mid 1930s, providing a circa date for the painting.
The work was treated by Joyce Hill Stoner in 2000; she noted in her report that in certain areas paint loss from the top layer revealed colors underneath which had no relationship to the present image, suggesting the possibility of a reused canvas. The painting was not examined by X-radiography.
