Curatorial RemarksThere is no title authority for this painting. In the early exhibition and photography files of the Brandywine River Museum, the painting is referred to as "The Brook"; by 1982, "Summer Days." These titles must have come from Wyeth family members who worked closely with museum staff on both exhibitions. At some point the painting was wax-lined and transferred to a new stretcher. 1973 exhibition paperwork identifies the figures as Carolyn Bockius Wyeth and her daughter Henriette.
