Curatorial RemarksThis commission was offered to the artist in early November of 1906, and by Jan. 8, 1907, Wyeth had completed the cover and one illustration (see NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, Nov. 2, 1906, and Arthur Browne of A. C. McClurg & Co. to NCW, Jan. 8, 1907, Wyeth Family Archives). Browne wrote "The cover is exactly what we wanted, and so far as the lettering goes, that is a small matter and we can easily attend to it."
