Curatorial RemarksThe Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.205) of the drawing used in the transfer of the design from paper to canvas (NCW 1489). A drawing on the verso, of a frontiersman in coon skin cap, does not correspond to a known commission or painting.
