Curatorial RemarksLittle is known about this work. A black and white 8 x 10 inch photograph of it was found in N. C. Wyeth's studio among other archival photographs of artwork. It is obviously a sketch for a cast medallion and the inscription confirms that. The subject is most likely Washington Irving's headless horseman.
