Curatorial RemarksIn a letter to his parents dated November 3, 1904, Wyeth wrote from Gallegos Canyon, NM, "I have had very little time to sketch although I have made 8 or 10 Indian heads in pencil and a couple in color." (Chadds Ford, PA, 1990(2), p. 60). NCW 1355, an oil painting of "Klezzy Klen Begay, Navajo Chief" and another pencil portrait (NCW 1228) may relate to this drawing.
