Curatorial RemarksAccording to the artist's income tax notes for 1939, he received $1,000. for the four paintings that illustrate Ramona. The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.123) of the composition drawing for this image, used in the transfer of the design from paper to panel. See NCWS.95.73, a group of illustrations torn from an unidentified book. These illustrations are photographs taken at Camulos, reputed home of Ramona.
