Curatorial RemarksThe Brandywine River Museum holds a portion of a cardboard calendar mount with a reproduction of the image (5 15/16 x 8 1/4") adhered along the top edge (library number 4433). Under the image is an area that clearly indicates this "hanger" was distributed by companies that sold home insurance. Correspondence suggests that this image dates from the mid-1930s (James P. Simpson to T. E. Wiederseim of Ketterlinus, March 11, 1947, Simpson Collection, Brandywine River Museum library). The authority for the title comes from Douglas Allen and Douglas Allen, Jr.
NCW 1353, probably done several years earlier, is a different grouping of very similar figures in a much wider format.
