Curatorial RemarksThe artist's library includes Scribner's 1905 unillustrated edition of the story (NCWS.95.203) which Wyeth read and marked in preparation for the commission.
According to an entry in the artist's address book (NCWS.95.1174, Brandywine River Museum), Anna Faith Taylor was a Scribner's employee. Wyeth inscribed a copy of Treasure Island to her in October, 1915. (Copy with Glenn Books, http://www.glennbooks.net)
