Curatorial RemarksThe title authority rests with Andrew Wyeth, who so named the painting during a 1990 inventory of paintings in the N. C. Wyeth studio. The canvas was examined by x-radiography in March 2004; no under image was detected (Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation project, Richard Wolbers, supervisor). The work is dated by its stylistic similarity to NCW 932; both paintings are done on a rather finely woven canvas the artist favored at the time.
