Curatorial RemarksThis painting is dated by the location, the orchard of the house the Wyeths rented from April 1908 through March 1911. Even though the Wyeths lived at Windtryst during the summer of 1911 as their new house was being completed, Wyeth retained his studio at this property.
The painting has been wax-lined to a new stretcher, so any marks or notations on the reverse of the canvas or original stretchers have been lost.
