Curatorial RemarksThis painting is shown hanging unframed on the north wall in the living room of the Wyeth house in a photograph filed with letters dated December 1911 (Wyeth Family Archives). The N. C. Wyeth studio collection contains many of the objects Wyeth incorporated into his still life paintings. The squat-shaped pitcher in this painting still sits on a shelf in the studio (Brandywine River Museum, NCWS.95.1504).
The painting was examined by xradiography (Richard C. Wolbers, Winterthur Museum, March 2004) which showed that the canvas had not been used prior to the still life.
