Curatorial RemarksIdentified by Andrew Wyeth;Like some of the other impressionist landscapes Wyeth did between 1908 and 1912, this painting may have had the title on the stretcher or label. An inventory card made by Carolyn Wyeth in the early 1970s lists a 16 x 20 inch painting called "Rain" (Brandywine River Museum, library), and during a 1990 inventory of paintings left in the studio, Andrew Wyeth also referred to this canvas as "Rain." Simple one or two word titles were typical of the names Wyeth gave the landscapes from this period.
